You are legally responsible for them long after the van pulls off your forecourt. A sensible place to start is whether the person driving it is registered to carry waste at all.

An unregistered carrier cannot lawfully move your waste. If they do, and it ends up in a field, the Environment Agency traces it back to the business that produced it. That is you.
Upper tier registrations run for three years. Nobody tells you when your collector's runs out. They may not have noticed themselves.
The data comes from the Environment Agency's own register, published under the Open Government Licence. We do not add to it, edit it, or charge for it.
